What this site is
Nightglass (nightglass.shop) is an independent editorial journal about backyard astronomy. We don't sell products, run an online store, or process payments anywhere on this site.
Information we collect
We keep the collection deliberately small:
- Newsletter sign-up: if you submit the email form on this site, we store that address to send occasional journal updates. We don't ask for a name, location, or any other detail to complete the sign-up.
- Basic server logs: like most websites, our hosting provider logs standard technical information (such as IP address, browser type, and page requested) for security and stability purposes. These logs are not used to build advertising profiles.
- Local device storage: the newsletter form uses your browser's local storage to remember that you've already subscribed, so the confirmation message doesn't reappear unnecessarily. This stays on your device and isn't transmitted to us.
What we don't do
- We don't sell, rent, or trade email addresses to third parties.
- We don't run third-party advertising trackers or retargeting pixels on this site.
- We don't require an account or login to read any article on Nightglass.
The Nightlist app
Nightlist, our companion planning tool, is described on our app page. Any horizon profile or observing log a user creates within Nightlist is intended to stay on-device by default; we do not use journal newsletter data to populate or personalize app content.
Cookies
This site does not use tracking cookies. Any storage used (such as the local subscription flag noted above) is functional only and does not identify you across other websites.
Children's privacy
Nightglass is a general-audience editorial site and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date at the top. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
